More details on our processes and background.

What is it like working with Novel Biotechnology?

The process starts with you reaching out to our team.  We will schedule a technical call to understand your specific needs and what success looks like to you.  With that information, we draft a Statement of Work (SOW) that describes the goals, responsibilities, technical plan, deliverables, timeline, and cost.  Once the SOW is approved and a PO is issued, we get to work.  Our team provides regular project updates at a cadence and in a manner (email or video conference) that suits your needs.  We pride ourselves on offering exceptional customer service to our clients.  Reach out today to see how we can help you achieve your goals

What services do you offer?

We offer end-to-end plasmid production services covering plasmid design, DNA fragment production, plasmid assembly, cell line generation, strain cultivation at multiple scales, plasmid purification (via a variety of processes and scales), sequencing (NGS), and a full suite of plasmid QC analytics.  Some of our clients use all of our service offerings in their projects, while others take an a la carte approach.

How long will my project take?

We pride ourselves on tailoring projects to suit the exact needs of our clients.  Simple projects such as routine plasmid preps can be as short as a few days, while more complex projects can take much longer.  If you have a potential project in mind, our team would love to discuss the details and provide you with a project timeline.

How much will my project cost?

The projects that we work on vary widely in their complexity and scope.  Simple projects such as routine plasmid preps can be as inexpensive as a few hundred dollars, while more complicated and resource-intensive projects can be much more expensive.  If you have a potential project in mind, our team would love to discuss the details and provide you with a project quote.

What strains do you use for plasmid production?

We use a variety of common E. coli strains, the selection of which depends on the nature of the plasmid DNA (size, recombination risk, etc.) and the overall project goals.  Depending on the nature of the project, we also offer early access to our proprietary NBx strain (non E. coli).

What kinds of plasmids do you have experience with?

Our team has extensive experience with a wide variety of plasmid types (e.g., plasmids for producing proteins, RNA, vaccines, and cell therapies).  We have experience with constructs that are large, contain poly-A tails, and/or repetitive regions.

What is the NBx platform?

The NBx platform is a proprietary microbial (non-E. coli) plasmid DNA production host that is under development at Novel Biotechnologies.  We are developing this host as a next-generation plasmid production strain to address known issues with E. coli strains used for production of plasmid DNA.  The NBx platform promises to increase volumetric yields, mitigate recombination issues with recombination-prone plasmids, improve product quality, and speed up the fermentation process - all while remaining drop-in compatible with existing plasmid DNA manufacturing infrastructure.
